Data doesn't lie. In 2023, the output value of Cambodia's construction industry reached 1.5 billion US dollars, and it is expected to surge at a growth rate of 7.3% by 2026. Local production capacity remains severely insufficient: in 2024, steel imports increased by 69%, and construction machinery imports accounted for 16.5%, becoming the second largest import category. More critically, 60% of local equipment is in urgent need of replacement, while the long-term reliance on imports remains high. From housing to ports, demand is growing across the board: the need for 200,000 new houses each year drives demand for building materials; mega projects such as the expansion of the Sihanoukville deep-water port and the Funan Techo Canal are in urgent need of equipment like excavators and rollers; and the housing shortage of 1.1 million units has created a huge market.
