The application of PVC in the construction field
The construction industry is the largest consumer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), accounting for approximately 60% of the global total PVC demand. With its characteristics of corrosion resistance, good formability and high cost performance, PVC has become an indispensable material in modern construction.
I. Main Application Fields
Door and window profiles
PVC profiles are widely used in door and window systems due to their good heat insulation, sound insulation and weather resistance.
Compared with aluminium alloy and wood, it has a lower cost and is easier to maintain.
The strength and stability can be further enhanced through co-extrusion, adding steel linings and other methods.
Pipes and pipe fittings
Pvc-u (rigid non-plasticized PVC) pipes are used in water supply and drainage systems and have the advantages of corrosion resistance, convenient construction and long service life.
Pvc-c (chlorinated PVC) pipes have better heat resistance and are suitable for hot water pipes and fire protection systems.
Floor and wall panels
PVC flooring is widely used in public places such as residences, schools and hospitals due to its light weight, water resistance, anti-slip properties and diverse designs.
Compared with traditional wooden floors, it has better wear resistance and flame retardancy.
Roof and waterproofing materials
PVC waterproofing membranes are widely used in roof waterproofing, tunnels and underground projects due to their convenient construction and good aging resistance.
Ii. Performance Advantages
Durability: Weather resistance and corrosion resistance, with a service life of over 30 years.
Economy: Low raw material prices, high processing efficiency, and outstanding cost performance.
Green and environmentally friendly: PVC products can be recycled and reused, which is in line with the trend of energy conservation and environmental protection in buildings.
Iii. Industry Development Trends
Energy-saving and environmentally friendly building materials: Low-lead and lead-free stabilizer systems are gradually becoming popular, and green building material standards are promoting the application of environmentally friendly PVC.
Functional development: Flame-retardant, antibacterial and self-cleaning PVC building materials have attracted attention.
High-end applications: With the trend of urbanization and fine decoration, the demand for PVC flooring and high-performance profiles in mid-to-high-end residences and public buildings is on the rise.
Summary
PVC is not only an "alternative material" in the construction industry, but also is becoming an important supporting material for green buildings and new urbanization construction due to its comprehensive performance and sustainable development potential.
