Installing PVC casing molding is a relatively straightforward process that requires basic carpentry tools and skills. Here's a general guide on how to install PVC casing molding:

1. Preparation:

Ensure that the surface where you'll be installing the casing molding is clean, dry, and free of debris.

Measure the length of the wall where the casing molding will be installed and cut the molding pieces accordingly, adding a few inches extra to each piece to allow for trimming.

2. Cutting the Molding:

Use a miter saw or coping saw to cut the molding at 45-degree angles for outside corners. For inside corners, use a coping saw to cut along the profile of the molding to create a tight fit with the adjacent piece.

Dry-fit the molding pieces together to ensure they fit properly before proceeding.

3. Applying Adhesive:

Apply a bead of construction adhesive along the back of the molding where it will make contact with the wall. This helps secure the molding in place and provides additional adhesion.

4. Attaching the Molding:

Position the first piece of molding against the wall at one end of the installation area. Ensure it is aligned properly and press it firmly against the wall.

Secure the molding in place using a hammer and finish nails or a nail gun. Drive the nails through the molding and into the wall at regular intervals, spacing them approximately 12-18 inches apart.

Repeat the process for each additional piece of molding, ensuring that each piece is tightly butted against the adjacent pieces.

5. Finishing Touches:

Once all the molding pieces are installed, fill any nail holes with wood filler or putty. Allow the filler to dry completely, then sand it smooth if necessary.

If desired, you can paint the PVC casing molding to match the surrounding decor. PVC molding accepts paint well, so you can use any paint suitable for PVC materials.

6. Clean-Up:

Clean up any excess adhesive or debris from the installation area, and ensure that the molding is securely attached to the wall.

 

Take accurate measurements and double-check your cuts to ensure precise fitting.

Use a level to ensure that the molding is straight and aligned correctly.

When nailing the molding, be careful not to drive the nails too deep, as this can damage the molding or the wall surface.
