How does the composition of WPC board sheets differ from traditional wood sheets?

Mar 07, 2024

The composition of WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) board sheets differs significantly from traditional wood or PVC sheets:

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) Composition: WPC board sheets are composed of a mixture of wood fibers or flour, thermoplastics (such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or PVC), additives, and sometimes foaming agents. This combination results in a material that mimics the appearance of wood while offering enhanced durability and resistance to moisture, rot, and insects.

Traditional Wood Composition: Traditional wood sheets are made from solid wood or wood veneers. While natural wood has an aesthetic appeal, it is prone to issues such as warping, splitting, and decay when exposed to moisture and environmental elements.

PVC Sheet Composition: PVC sheets, on the other hand, are typically made from rigid PVC (polyvinyl chloride) resin. While PVC sheets offer excellent durability and moisture resistance, they lack the natural wood-like appearance and may not be as environmentally friendly due to their reliance on petrochemical-derived materials.
